Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: Flavones isolated from Artemisia absinthium and an anti-inflammatory composition containing the same compounds are provided, which compounds is useful for treatment of inflammatory disease such as rheumatic arthritis. CONSTITUTION: The flavones isolated from Artemisia absinthium, 5,6,3',5'-tetramethoxy 7,4'-hydroxy flavones represented by formula (1) are provided. The method for isolating and purifying the flavones isolated from Artemisia absinthium, 5,6,3',5'-tetramethoxy 7,4'-hydroxy flavones represented by formula (1) comprises the steps of: pulverizing Artemisia absinthium and inserting the pulverized Artemisia absinthium in alcohol; concentrating the extract of Artemisia absinthium under reduced pressure, and extracting the concentrate with chloroform and ethylacetate; sequentially subjecting the ethylacetate extract of Artemisia absinthium to silica gel chromatography, RP-18 resin chromatography, Sephadex LH-20 resin chromatography and HPLC.
