AIRBAG MODULE HAVING VARIABLE TETHER SYSTEM FOR REALIZING VARIOUS DEPLOYING STRUCTURES

PURPOSE: An airbag module having a variable tether system is provided to realize various deploying structures by being used with various types of expandable shock absorbers and expanders. CONSTITUTION: An airbag module having a variable tether system comprises a housing(16), an expandable shock absorber(20) for deploying from the housing, an expander(18) hydraulically communicating with the shock absorber and making the shock absorber deploy from the housing by supplying a large amount of expandable gas, and first and second tether elements(34,36). The first tether element includes a first end(38) fixed in a first inner portion(40) of the shock absorber and a second end(44) fixed in a second inner portion(46) of the shock absorber. The second tether element includes a first side(42) combined with the first tether element between the first and second ends and a second side retained or released by a drive mechanism(48).
