Method for Converting IP multicast address into Ethernet multicast address

PURPOSE: A method for converting an IP multicast address into an Ethernet multicast address is provided to enable one IP multicast address to have one Ethernet multicast address, and to remove a filtering process of an IP layer in a multicast group host, thereby reducing host load while receiving a packet. CONSTITUTION: A host 1(400) transmits a multicast packet to a host 2(410) and a host 3(420). The host 2(410) and the host 3(420) determine whether to receive the multicast packet with only a filtering process of an MAC layer. Since upper 4 bits only of a destination IP multicast address of the transmitted multicast packet are ignored and the rest 28 bits are used for Ethernet multicast address mapping, one IP multicast address has one Ethernet multicast address. If the host 1(400) transmits the multicast packet, the host 2(410) and the host 3(420) compare the multicast packet with an Ethernet multicast address in the MAC layer.
