Air Conditioner and Controlling Method for the Same

PURPOSE: An air conditioner and a control method thereof are provided to automatically control the air conditioner according to the increase and decrease of the number of persons by installing an infrared ray-detecting sensor to the air conditioner, storing the infrared rays of the room detected in an initial driving of the air conditioner by the infrared ray detecting sensor, comparing the infrared rays of the room detected in driving the air conditioner with the stored infrared rays, and automatically controlling the discharging amount and direction of the air conditioner to the variation. CONSTITUTION: A vertical air conditioner comprises an infrared ray-detecting sensor(11) installed to a left and right movable louver of the air conditioner and a microcomputer(13) controlling the driving method of the air conditioner according to the infrared rays detected by the infrared ray-detecting sensor. 본 발명은 공기조화기 및 그 제어방법에 관한 것으로써, 실내에 공기 조화를 위하여 설치되는 직립형 공기조화기의 좌우회전 루버에 적외선탐지 센서를 장착한 후 상기 적외선탐지 센서가 상기 공기조화기 구동 초기에 탐지한 실내의 적외선량을 저장하고 그 후 상기 공기조화기 구동 중 탐지한 실내의 적외선량을 상기 저장된 적외선량과 비교하여 그 증감 여부에 따라 공기조화기의 토출량과 토출방향이 자동적으로 조절되도록 함으로써 실내 재실자 수 증감에 따라 자동적으로 공기조화기가 제어되도록 하는 동시에 그에 따라 사용자의 쾌적도가 증가하도록 할 수 있는 효과가 있다.
