LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device is provided to partially refract first light by a color filter substrate for emitting second light with expanded viewing angles, thereby smoothing the inversion of gray level and improving the viewing angles. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate(110) formed with a plurality of switching elements(120) and pixel electrodes(130), a liquid crystal layer(150) formed on the first substrate, and a second substrate(210) disposed on the first substrate interposing the liquid crystal layer. The second substrate has a plurality of color filters(231,232,233) formed with light path changing parts, to which first light is incident via the liquid crystal layer, and from which second light is emitted with expanded viewing angles by the refraction of the first light. 계조 반전을 완화하면서 시야각을 개선할 수 있는 액정 표시 장치가 개시된다. 액정 표시 장치는, 액정층을 통과한 제1 광이 입사되고, 상기 제1 광을 부분적으로 굴절시켜 확장된 시야각을 갖는 제2 광을 출사하기 위한 광 경로 변경부를 갖는 컬러 필터 기판을 구비한다. 상기 광 경로 변경부는 입사면이 상기 제1 광의 진행 방향으로 오목하게 함몰되어 형성된 컬러 필터층 또는, 상기 컬러 필터 기판에 형성된 컬러 필터층을 보호하기 위하여 상기 컬러 필터 기판 상에 형성되고, 입사면이 상기 제1 광의 진행 방향으로 오목하게 함몰되어 형성된 보호층으로 이루어진다. 따라서, 상기 액정 표시 장치는 계조 반전을 완화하면서 시야각을 향상시킬 수 있다.
