MONOLITH CATALYTIC REACTOR COUPLED TO STATIC MIXER

PURPOSE: An apparatus comprising a monolith catalytic reactor having an inlet and an outlet and a static mixer having an inlet and an outlet with the outlet of the static mixer in communication with the inlet of the monolith catalytic reactor, and an improved process for effecting reaction between a reactant gas and reactant liquid in a monolith catalytic reactor are provided. CONSTITUTION: In a process for the heterogeneous catalytic reaction of a mixture of a reactant gas and reactant liquid in a monolith catalytic reactor under conditions of reaction, the process comprises the steps of initially mixing the reactant gas with the reactant liquid in a static mixer thereby forming a frothy mixture, introducing the resultant frothy mixture into the monolith catalytic reactor for reaction, and, then, recovering reaction product from the monolith catalytic reactor. The apparatus is comprised of in combination a monolith catalytic reactor(4) having an inlet and an outlet and a static mixer(1) having an inlet and an outlet with the outlet of the static mixer in communication with the inlet of the monolith catalytic reactor, wherein the monolith catalytic reactor has from 100 to 1200 cells(15) per square inch, wherein the static mixer is comprised of a plurality of parallel channels defining alternating flow paths which extend angularly to the longitudinal axis, wherein the static mixers is comprised of a plurality of mixing sections(3) with each mixing section rotated about the longitudinal axis in the direction of flow from the preceding section, wherein the parallel channels interact at angles of 45 to about 90 degrees, wherein the sections in the static mixer are rotated from about 45 to 90 degrees about the longitudinal axis from the preceding section in the direction of flow, and wherein the catalytic metal deposited on the surface of the monolith is a Group VIb, Group VIIb, or Group VIII or Group Ib metal. 본 발명은 입구와 출구를 갖춘 모놀리스 접촉 반응기 및 입구와 출구를 갖춘 정적 혼합기를 포함하고, 상기 정적 혼합기의 출구가 상기 모놀리스 접촉 반응기와 연통하는 개선된 장치에 관한 것이다. 또한, 본 발명은 모놀리스 접촉 반응기에서 반응을 수행하는 공정의 개선 방법에 관한 것이며, 상기 방법에서, 반응물 기체와 반응물 액체를 모놀리스 접촉 반응기의 입구로 도입하고, 반응시킨 다음, 반응 생성물을 모놀리스 접촉 반응기의 출구를 통과시킨다.
