Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: A blind equalization method for a high definition television signal is provided to conduct the blind equalization of an ATSC(Advanced Television Systems Committee)-High Definition Television signal and any other one-dimensional modulation system. CONSTITUTION: An adaptive equalizer updates tap coefficients thereof with the aid of an error signal, e(k) = sign£z(k)|*(Rs- absolute value z(k) ¬2), where sign£| is a sign function, z is an equalizer output(z) at a symbol time, an absolute value is a magnitude function, Rs is a positive real constant, which is optimally defined as Rs = E (absolute value an ¬3) / E (absolute value an).
