PRODUCTION OF COMPOSITE COMPOSITION FOR REDUCING CHOLESTEROL LEVEL OF BLOOD AND COMPOSITE COMPOSITION PREPARED THEREFROM

PURPOSE: A process of preparing a composite composition containing phytosterol and tannin as a main component is provided. Because the composition reduces cholesterol level of the blood, in particular LDL-cholesterol levels, it can be used as a pharmaceutical formulation, injectable aqueous formulation, food additive and the like. CONSTITUTION: Phytosterol and tannin are dried at about room temperature, dissolved in a solvent such as water, ethanol or a mixture thereof in a weight ratio of 10:1 to 1:10, heated at 60 to 100deg.C for 3 to 100min and then cooled to about room temperature. Thereafter, the cooled liquid is acidified with a weak alkali solution, heated at 60 to 100deg.C for 3 to 100min and then dried after removing the solvent. The phytosterol is one of beta-sitosterol, campesterol, stigmasterol and brassicasterol.
