CONSTITUTION: A process for production of percarboxylic acid is characterized by feeding the acid catalyst continuously into the reaction medium and by withdrawing continuously a portion of the reaction medium as a bottom product. When the through flow of the reaction medium is thus increased, it is purified of impurities threatening the safety of the process. If the amount of acid catalyst in the reaction medium is further decreased, a product suitable, for example, for disinfection is obtained from the bottom product. 과산화수소, 아세트산 및 물을 과산화수소, 아세트산, 과아세트산 및 산 촉매를 함유하는 수성 반응 매질 내로 주입시키고, 과산화수소와 아세트산을 산 촉매의 존재 하에 반응시켜 과아세트산을 생성시키고, 수성 아세트산 농축액을 증류에 의하여 반응 매질로부터 연속적으로 제거하는, 종래 과아세트산 제품 생산 방법이 오늘날 산 촉매를 반응 매질 내로 연속적으로 주입시키고 탑저 생성물로써 반응 매질의 일부를 연속적으로 제거함으로써 향상되어 왔다. 따라서 반응 매질의 통류(through flow)가 증가하는 경우, 방법의 안전성을 위협하는 불순물이 정제된다. 반응 매질 내의 산 촉매의 양이 추가로 감소한다면, 예컨대 탑저 생성물로부터 살균에 적합한 생성물을 얻을 수 있다.
