USER INTERFACE METHOD FOR PORTABLE TERMINAL

PURPOSE: A user interface method of a portable terminal is provided to increase the convenience of a user by executing a related function in case that a user touch a status pointer on a screen or selects a cursor without the need for inputting keys. CONSTITUTION: It is judged whether a user inputs a button through a keypad or a touch screen through a touch screen input/output device(600). It is confirmed whether a status pointer is designated(602). A work execution module registered in the status pointer designated and status change information are confirmed from a status change registration module(604). It is checked whether related functions are registered(606). The work execution module corresponded to the status pointer is executed according to the status change information. After that, the related function is executed(608). 본 발명은 휴대용 단말기에 있어서 사용자의 혼동을 초래하지 않고 별도의 버튼을 필요로 하지 않으면서도 사용자가 상황 지시자를 보고 해당 상황 지시자에 관련된 기능을 바로 실행시킬 수 있도록 할 수 있는 사용자 인터페이스방법을 제공한다. 이를 위한 본 발명의 방법은 미리 설정된 상황 변화가 발생하는 경우에 상황 변화에 대응하는 상황 지시자를 표시장치의 화면상에 표시하여 사용자에게 알리는 휴대용 단말기에서 상황 지시자에 관련된 기능을 실행하는 방법에 있어서, 상황 지시자 표시를 변경할 상황 변화가 발생하는 경우에 변경할 상황 지시자에 관련된 기능을 변경할 상황 지시자에 대응되게 등록하고 상황 지시자 표시를 변경하는 과정과, 표시되고 있는 상황 지시자를 지정하는 사용자 입력이 있으면 지정된 상황 지시자에 대응되게 등록된 기능을 실행하는 과정을 구비한다.
