Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: A communication terminal device and a display method are provided to confirm sub-items of each item without executing a specific operation by automatically displaying the sub-items of a selected item. CONSTITUTION: A flexible key(3) selects a desired setting item among a plurality of setting items. A main display unit(2) displays the setting item selected by the flexible key(3). A menu/OK key(6) confirms the setting item displayed by the main display unit(2) and proceeds to a setting screen. A control unit changes a setting value of the setting item in the setting screen of the confirmed setting item. The control unit measures a length of time for which the selected setting item is displayed. A sub display unit displays the setting value of the selected setting item when the length of time exceeds a predetermined length of time. 통신단말장치는 계층메뉴를 구성하는 항목을 기억하고 있으며, 메인표시부에 1의 계층의 항목을 표시하며, 표시된 항목가운데 사용자의 조작에 의해 선택된 1의 항목에 대한 하층의 항목을 사용자에 의한 표시지시의 조작없이 메인표시부에 표시한다.
