METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SULFOXIDE COMPOUND

PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing sulfoxide compounds in high purity and yield by simple filtration is provided, which inhibits the generation of by-products, involves no complex purification or decolorization process. Therefore, the sulfoxide compound useful for anti-ulcer agent can be mass-manufactured. CONSTITUTION: Sulfoxide compound of the formula(I) is manufactured by the following steps of: reducing N-oxide sulfide compound of the formula(III) with molybdenum compound in the presence of low alcohol solvent to synthesize sulfide compound of the formula(II) as an intermediate; oxidizing the sulfide compound with monoperoxyphthalic acid(hereafter referred to as MMPP) in the presence of ethanol solvent to obtain sulfoxide compound of the formula(I) with maximumly suppressing the production of by-products such as N-oxide compound of the formula(IV) and sulfone compound of the formula(V). Wherein, 1.0-1.2 mol of molybdenum carbonyl based on N-oxide sulfide compound of the formula(III) and 0.5-0.6 mol of MMPP are used. And the oxidization process is performed at the temperature of -20 to -10 deg.C.
