METHOD FOR PROCESSING FAX DATA IN PRIVATE BRANCH EXCHANGE SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A method for processing fax data in a PBX(Private Branch eXchange) system is provided to offer voice and fax services together. CONSTITUTION: If a PBX system receives a call from a user, a control part in the PBX system reports call arrival to a main control part in a fax data processing device(S10). The main control part requests a voice signal processing part to send an information message to request the input of an extension number(S12). The voice signal processing part directs a signal processing part to execute preparation to collect a signal tone inputted through a system interface part(S14). The signal processing part, receiving the signal tone, judges whether the received signal tone is a DTMF tone or a fax calling tone(S18,S20). In case that the received signal tone is the DTMF tone, the main control part requests the control part of the PBX system to transfer the input call to the inputted extension number(S22). If the received signal tone is the fax calling tone, the main control part transfers the input call to a fax signal processing part so that the fax signal processing part can process fax data(S24).
