SEALED BATTERY

PURPOSE: A sealed battery is provided which secures safety by controlling the current flow and clearing the internal pressure when a temperature of the battery is increased to more than the temperature of safety, and solves problems of complicated structure and reliance on operation. CONSTITUTION: The sealed battery comprises a can (22) carrying a cathode, an anode, a separator inserted between the cathode and anode and an electrolyte; a variable member (30) comprising a downward protrusion (30a) and fracture members (30b) formed on the protrusion (30a), wherein the variable member (30) is bonded and sealed by interposing a gasket (24) into the opened mouth of the can, and connected to one electrode out of the cathode and anode using a tap (32); a cover cap (36) having a vent hole, wherein the cover cap (36) is installed by interposing and stacking an insulator (34) on the variable member (30); a current restricting element (38) installed on the upper part of the variable member (30) so that resistance is rapidly generated, thereby blocking the current flow when a temperature of the battery internal is increased to more than the safety temperature; and a connecting means (40) installed between the cover cap (36) and the current restricting element (38) for improving conductivity and buffing the pressure applied on the current restricting element (38).
