Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: An apparatus and method of detecting a synchronizing signal of public wave using an audio watermark are to synthesize additional information in a public wave signal using the watermark and synchronize a broadcasting system at a receiving part using the additional information, thereby stabilizing the system. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for detecting a synchronizing signal of public wave using an audio watermark comprises an ADPCM(Adaptive Differential Pulse Code Modulation) converter(3) for converting a public wave signal having the watermark into an ADPCM type; an analog/digital and digital/analog converter(2) for converting the public wave signal output from the ADPCM converter; a watermark detecting portion for detecting the watermark inserted into the public wave signal; and a synchronous signal generating portion for receiving a detected watermark signal to generate the synchronous signal of a broadcasting system. In the apparatus, the public wave signal is a voice signal. A method of detecting the synchronizing signal of public wave using the audio watermark comprises the steps of: receiving the public wave signal having the watermark through an antenna(4); converting the input public wave signal by the ADPCM method; converting the public wave signal from the ADPCM converter into an analog or digital signal; detecting the watermark; and generating the synchronous signal of the broadcasting system suing the watermark signal.
