Zusammenfassung: | PURPOSE: An inhibition effect of quesetin separated from onion peels on testosterone reductase and separating process for quesetin are provided, which shows the fact that onion extract or quesetin inhibits testosterone reductase; so the quesetin can be applied in a medicine for enlargement of the prostate gland, comedones, a bald head, and women's hypertrichosis. CONSTITUTION: A process for the separation and refining of quesetin from onion peels comprises: extracting onions with acetone; extracting again with ethyl acetate after controlling pH of acetone-extracted onions; concentrating under decompression, and processing silica gel column chromatography; dissolving out with a mixed solution of normal hexane and ethyl acetate in the ratio of 1:1 to get a fraction showing inhibition activity on testosterone reductase; confirming being precipitated of green needle-shaped crystal from the active fraction gained from silica gel chromatography processing; concentrating the active fractions continuously and slowly at room temperature; and re-crystallizing the crystals continuously to get homogeneous substance. |
