Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: A VCR system having a cable communication function is provided to record and play back image data through a telephone line by embedding a modem in a VCR system and making a cable communication possible. CONSTITUTION: A modem(21) is turned on upon detecting a ring signal, and an image data input to the modem through a telephone line is received. A present mode of a VCR is decided. In a recording mode, a busy line signal is sent. In a replay mode, a message to inform an existence of a receiving signal through the telephone line is displayed on an OSD(On Screen Display) screen. A user's receiving selection is decided. In inputting a receiving off-key, the busy line signal is sent. In inputting a receiving on-key, it is recorded on recording a tape in a deck.
