Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: The aim is to provide ophthalmic pharmaceutical compositions containing a pharmaceutically acceptable ophthalmic carrier and an inflammation-treating amount of a nitrone compound. CONSTITUTION: The nitrone compounds can be 5,5-dimethylpyrroline-N-oxide or a compound of formula I: wherein each R¬1 is independently selected from the group consisting of alkyl, lower alkoxy, aminoacyl, hydroxy and -CO2Y, wherein Y is hydrogen or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt; R¬2 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl and aryl; R¬3 is selected from the group consist on of alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, aryl, alkaryl, alkcycloalkyl, cycloalkyl and cycloalkenyl; X is CH or N→O; and n is an integer from 0 to 3.
