| Zusammenfassung: | The present invention relates to a device for verifying authenticity by using shades and a driving method thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the device for verifying authenticity by using shades comprises: a storage unit which stores reference data generated to determine the authenticity based on shades of a stepped pattern formed on a surface of an object of which the authenticity is to be determined; and a control unit which recognizes a state value for the presence or absence of shades on a surface in a photographed image obtained by photographing the surface of the object of which the authenticity is to be determined, and compares the recognized state value with the stored (pre-stored) reference data to determine the authenticity of the object to be determined.
