Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to a composition for preventing and treating cancer comprising a Nampungchal Sorghum extract as an active ingredient. The Nampungchal Sorghum extract according to the present invention induces apoptosis by decreasing the expression of Bcl-2 gene, increasing expression of Bax gene, and increasing expression of active Caspase-3 (cleaved Caspase-3), thereby being usefully used as a cancer preventive or therapeutic agent. 본 발명은 남풍찰수수(Nampungchal Sorghum) 추출물을 유효성분으로 포함하는 암 예방 및 치료용 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 남풍찰수수 추출물은 Bcl-2 유전자의 발현을 감소시키고, Bax 유전자의 발현을 증가시키며, 활성 Caspase-3(cleaved Caspase-3)의 발현을 증가시킴으로써, 세포자멸사를 유도하여, 이를 암 예방 또는 치료제로 유용하게 사용할 수 있다.
