AUTOMATIC VEHICLE CLASSIFICATION FOR COLLECTING ROAD TRAFFIC INFORMATION AND METHOD THEREOF

According to the present invention, disclosed are an apparatus and a method for inquiring traffic to collect road traffic information. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the traffic inquiring apparatus comprises: a first sensing apparatus installed in a starting point of a preset section on a road, and sensing a first sensing value by irradiating light in a side surface of an approached vehicle; a second sensing apparatus installed to be separated from the first sensing apparatus by a certain distance, and sensing a second sensing value for irradiating light in an upper part and the side surface of the approached vehicle; and a control apparatus for obtaining a tomographic image for each part of the vehicle based on the first sensing value and the second sensing value, determining a type of vehicles by using the obtained tomographic image for each part of the vehicle, and controlling to transmit road traffic information including the determined type of vehicles to a control center. 본 발명에 의한 도로 교통 정보를 수집하기 위한 교통량 조사 장치 및 그 방법이 개시된다. 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 교통량 조사 장치는 도로 상의 미리 설정된 구간의 시작 시점에 설치되고, 차량의 측면에서 광을 조사하여 제1 센싱 값을 감지하는 제1 감지 장치; 상기 제1 감지 장치로부터 일정 거리 이격되어 설치되고, 상기 진입한 차량의 상부와 측면에서 광을 조사하는 제2 센싱 값을 감지하는 제2 감지 장치; 및 상기 제1 센싱 값과 상기 제2 센싱 값을 기반으로 상기 차량의 부분별 단층 이미지를 획득하고, 상기 획득된 차량의 부분별 단층 이미지를 이용하여 차종을 판단하여 상기 판단된 차종을 포함하는 도로 교통 정보를 관제 센터에 전송하도록 제어하는 제어 장치를 포함한다.
