APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR UPGRADING FIRMWARE OF AUTOMATIC METER READING TERMINAL ON THE REMOTE

Provided are an apparatus and a method for upgrading a firmware of a remote automatic meter reading terminal, in which a response packet including a delay time is transmitted upon transmission of a response packet for a packet received from a master station. The apparatus for upgrading a firmware of a remote automatic meter reading terminal comprises a communications unit for transmitting and receiving a command packet for upgrading a firmware, an image file for upgrading a firmware of a slave station, a command packet, and a response packet for the image file, to and from a master station; a calculation unit for calculating a delay time for receiving a next command packet or a next image file from the master station; and a control unit for controlling the calculation unit to calculate the delay time when the command packet is received from the communications unit, and controlling the communications unit to transmit the response packet for the received command packet to the master station, wherein the response packet includes the delay time calculated by the calculation unit.
