Disclosed are a monitoring system for recognizing an electronic device using a power usage pattern and a device thereof. The system for monitoring the power usage of electronic devices comprises a smart socket which supplies power to a connected electronic device and generates power usage pattern information including sensing information about at least two among the standby current, the maximum current, the minimum current, and the number of vibrations of the electronic device; and a monitoring device which analyzes the power usage pattern information received from the socket through a network and identifies the type of the electronic device. The monitoring system by the present invention monitors the power usage by electronic device by analyzing a pattern for the power usage of the electronic device connected to the socket and automatically recognizing the type or model of the corresponding electronic device.
