Zusammenfassung:	A method and an apparatus for automatically setting a diameter of a train wheel are provided to improve efficiency of the process of an inspector by automatically calculating the diameter of a train wheel and proving the calculated diameter to the apparatus. A tacho generator(140) is installed at a train wheel, and generates a pulse signal in proportion to the number of rotation of the train wheel. A first ground tag(110) and a second ground tag(120) have unique ID and are installed on the ground. A ground tag sensor(130) is installed in the train and senses the first and second ground tags. A diameter calculation unit(150) calculates the diameter of the train wheel by using relation between the sensed first and second ground tags and the generated pulse signal(160). The calculated diameter of the train wheel is provided to an automatic train operation unit(180).
