ACTIVATION METHOD FOR WRITABLE MEDIUM HAVING SINGLE AREA AND RECORDING MEDIUM STORING PROGRAM FORTHE SAME AND NETWORK DOWNLOAD SYSTEM FOR PROGRAM FORTHE SAME

A method for activating a recording medium having a single area, a recording medium storing a program for implementing the method, and a system for downloading the program are provided to user a recording medium according to user preference by partitioning anon-partitioned single area into a plurality of areas, changing the size of the partitioned areas, and writing predetermined data to the partitioned area. A remote server(300) stores a program, and requests authentication information for permitting download of the program when a program download request signal is received from the outside through the network. The remote server permits downloading the program when the received authentication information is permitted. The remote server uses PID(product ID)/VID(Vendor ID) information, unique information previously written in a memory(140) of a recording medium(100), or maker information of a controller(130) as the authentication information when the program download request signal is received from the recording medium including the controller and the memory.
