An apparatus and a method for providing weather news in a digital device are provided to enable the digital device having a communication function to display the latest weather news constantly while updating the weather news of a region selected by a user, thereby enabling the user to check the weather news. A weather news agent mounted to a digital device(110) sets variables associated with weather new display according to setting information received from a user(S1). The weather news agent connects with a weather server(120), downloads weather news data, and stores the downloaded weather news data in a storage(S2,S3). The weather news agent displays the weather news of a set region on the front display unit of the digital device or a display device(S4). The digital device searches the weather news data stored in the storage and displays the weather news of a region and a period selected by the user(S6).
