Zusammenfassung:A hoist having a control device and a control method thereof are provided to prevent an accident and to extend lifespan of machinery by controlling operation of a drum. A hoist having a control device includes a drum cover(30), a sensor unit(61), a microprocessor, an operation button(62), and a power break unit. The drum cover is formed a projection unit and is assembled outside the drum. The sensor unit corresponding to the projection unit is formed on the drum cover. The microprocessor counts rotational frequency of the drum according to a signal of the sensor and controls drive of a motor(40). The operation button operates the hoist. The power break unit primarily breaks a control signal of the operation button and secondarily breaks power of the hoist if the control signal is not broken by erroneous operation.
