ECHANT COMPOSITION FOR GLASS OF FLAT PANEL DISPLAY

A glass etchant composition for forming a flat panel display device is provided to produce etched glass having excellent quality including transparency and surface irregularity, and to realize stable etching quality and increased service life. A glass etchant composition for forming a flat panel display device comprises: 5-20 wt% of HF; 10-50 wt% of at least one inorganic acid selected from the group consisting of H2SO4, H3PO4, HCl, H2CO3, HNO3 and HClO4; 0.5-10 wt% of a carboxylic acid; 0.01-5 wt% of an inorganic nitrate salt as a first additive; and the balance amount of water. The glass etchant composition optionally further comprises, as a second additive, 0.005-1 wt% of a fluorine-containing surfactant in which hydrogen atoms of an organophilic hydrocarbon moiety are substituted with fluorine atoms.
