CONTROL METHOD OF TV SYSTEM

A method for controlling a TV system is provided to solve a problem that menus regarding many type devices should be prepared and a user should search and select the menus one by one to detect a type of a connected device and perform a corresponding application. Final connection type information regarding a type of an external device which has been connected to a serial communication unit most recently is stored(32). When the external device and the serial communication unit are physically connected, serial communication with the physically connected external device is attempted according to a communication protocol(33,34). It is checked whether a response received from the external device corresponds to the communication protocol used for the serial communication(35). If the response corresponds to the communication protocol, an application corresponding to the type according to the final connection type information is executed(37.40).
