LOOP HEIGHT DETECTING SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TWIN ROLL STRIP CASTER

A system and a method for measuring the loop length in a twin roll strip caster are provided to measure the length of a strip consistently and stably without being influenced by environmental factors such as casting slab pieces and flowing molten steel within a loop space. In a twin roll strip caster, a system for measuring the loop length comprises at least one image sensor(9,10) for measuring loop height values at three or more positions in the width direction of a strip being cast, and a control part(16) for calculating an average value of measured values except at least one highest value and at least one lowest value to determine the average value as a present loop height. The system comprises at least two image sensors for generating normality confirming signals, and the control part determines a loop length using only measurement values of the image sensors that are normally operated according to the normality confirming signals.
