METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ABBREVIATED DIALING IN MOBILE COMMUNICATION NETWORK

A system and a method for providing an abbreviated dialing service in a mobile communication network are provided to enable subscribers of an identical group to perform abbreviated dialing mutually in any place in a mobile communication network in providing an abbreviated dialing service to group subscribers. If the subscriber of a calling mobile terminal dials the abbreviated number of a called mobile terminal, an originating MSC(Mobile Switching Center) requests an originating HLR(Home Location Register) to provide caller information(100). The HLR transmits a response message contains a destination number, which is a combination of the abbreviated number and a routing number, to the originating MSC(110). Receiving the response message, the originating MSC transmits an IAM(Initial Address Message) containing the destination number to a serving intelligent network exchange(120). The serving intelligent network exchange requests an SCP(Service Control Point) to analyze the destination number(130). The SCP analyzes the destination number, confirms the actual phone number of the called mobile terminal, and transmits a response message to the serving intelligent network exchange, including information about the actual phone number of the called mobile terminal(140). The serving intelligent network exchange transmits a response message(ANM) for the IAM to the originating MSC(150).
