A system and a method for transmitting a message to prevent a fire are provided to improve reliability of the system by separately detecting a fire detection signal from a malfunction signal. A system for transmitting a message to prevent a fire includes a fire detector(10), a message transmission device(100). The fire detector(10) generates a fire detection signal or a malfunction signal. The message transmission device(100) is connected to the fire detector(10) through a first path, and receives the fire detection signal or the malfunction signal transmitted from the fire detector(10). The message transmission device(100) determines the kind of the received signal, and then generates an alarm according to the determination result. The message transmission device(100) transmits information related to the alarm to a management terminal through a short message service, and stores a transmission record having transmission time and contents.
