FACE DETECTOR AND DETECTING METHOD USING FACIAL COLOR AND ADABOOST

A device and a method for detecting a face with facial color and AdaBoost are provided quickly and correctly to detect the face from an input image by filtering a skin color area based on facial color information and using the AdaBoost without any sectioning process. A facial color function learner(15) learns a facial color function of each color from a plurality of sample facial images. A storing part(14) stores the facial color function of each color. An image preprocessor(11) finds a facial color filtered image of a color image by using the facial color function of each color if the color image is received, and finds a B/W(Black/White) image of the color image. A face detector(12) sets a size/position of a sub window, performs filtering by detecting whether the facial color filtered image has the facial color, and detects the facial image of the sub window by applying the B/W image to an AdaBoost face detecting module. A post processor(13) verifies a discriminated result.
