MOBILE TERMINAL FOR EXTENDING STANDBY TIME

A mobile terminal for lengthening a standby time is provided to lengthen an overall standby time of a mobile terminal by reducing a standby current by performing key scanning only on a single line of a key matrix when the mobile terminal is not used for a certain time after entering a sleep mode. A key matrix unit(10) includes multiple switches corresponding to each input key in a one-to-one manner disposed in a matrix form and selectively activates a key sense signal according to pressing of an input key and scan signals. A key input sensing unit(20) activates the scan signals to perform key scanning on the key matrix unit(10) to receive the key sense signal in a sleep mode of a mobile terminal, senses pressing of the input key through the scan signal and the key sense signal, and outputs a sense result. A controller(30) wakes up the key input sensing unit(20) to perform key scanning at certain periods, enters a saving mode and shortens the wake-up time if key pressing does not occur for a certain time after the mobile terminal enters the sleep mode.
