AIR-CONDITIONER AND DEHUMIDIFYING METHOD FOR OPERATING THE SAME

An air conditioner and a dehumidifying method thereof are provided to carry out dehumidifying operation with dehumidifying condensers instead of using any additional heaters. In an air conditioner including a heating condenser(160) driven in a heating mode for exchanging heat with air, and a dehumidifying condenser(170) selectively driven in heating and dehumidifying modes for exchanging heat with air, a dehumidifying operation includes the steps of compressing refrigerant by a compressor(110) to be gas state, and introducing the compressed refrigerant into the dehumidifying condenser via a 9th valve(199) for heating humid air with heat of the refrigerant. The refrigerant heated by humid air is introduced into a second condenser(124) to exchange heat with hot air from the outside. The refrigerant condensed in the second condenser is introduced into an expansion valve(130) through a receiver(126) and expanded to a gas state. The gas refrigerant is introduced into an evaporator(140) to exchange heat with external air of high temperature and humidity, so that moisture is collected on an outer surface of the evaporator and condensed water is generated.
