A system and a method for offering contents based on an image are provided to offer the contents specialized to a location of the user terminal based on image information while guaranteeing easy accessibility to the contents and minimizing modification of a device. A database(340) stores the first feature objects generated based on a feature point extracted from a registered image and connection information of an external server storing the contents corresponding to image ID information. An image recognizer(330) outputs the image ID information corresponding to the first feature object matched with a recognized image by comparing the second feature object, which is generated by extracting the feature point from the recognized image received from the user terminal, with the first feature objects stored in the database. A service provider(320) reads the connection information of the external server storing the contents corresponding to the recognized image ID information from the database, and provides the read connection information to the user terminal.
