Zusammenfassung:	An apparatus and a method for removing a protective paper of an optical sheet are provided to prevent the optical sheet of a backlight unit from being damaged, by automatically removing the protective paper from the optical sheet during assembling of the backlight unit. A conveying unit(20) automatically conveys an optical sheet, wherein the optical sheet has a protective paper attached on an external surface thereof. A first cleaning unit(30) removes foreign particles adhering onto an external surface of the optical sheet. A first removing unit(40) partially peels off the protective paper from one portion of the optical sheet by partially touching with the optical sheet. A stopper unit(50) prevents the optical sheet from moving on the conveying unit while the first removing unit is touched with the optical sheet. A second removing unit(60) peels off the protective paper from one portion to the other portion of the optical sheet when the optical sheet is conveyed by the conveying unit.
