APPARATUS FOR HANDLING EMERGENCY BROADCASTING IN TELEVISION AND METHOD THEREFOR

A device and a method for processing emergency broadcasting on television are provided to receive emergency broadcasting in a state that an unnecessary set-top box is not connected, by installing a high frequency modem and an emergency broadcasting processing algorithm inside the television, thereby reducing cost. A tuner(246) of a television converts high frequency signals of general broadcasting frequency into audible aural signals and visible video signals. If signals of a specific communication frequency modulating digital communication data into high frequency signals are demodulated into digital communication data to be transmitted to a TV CPU(248), the TV CPU compares whether the digital communication data accords with an address recorded at an EEPROM(Electrically Erasable and Programmable Read Only Memory)(254) embedded in the television. If so, a two-way high frequency modem(242) executes a command of the transmitted digital communication data and modulates data of the result and digital data of a current television state into inversely transmittable specific high frequency to transmit the modulated high frequency to a two-way splitter(240). The TV CPU is installed in the television inside for controlling to display emergency broadcasting when the emergency broadcasting is inputted. The EEPROM has basic address information needed when the TV CPU loads, and includes an address required for emergency broadcasting. If the emergency broadcasting is inputted, a switch unit(256) is controlled by the TV CPU for turning on or off the television, connecting the emergency broadcasting signals with stopping signals broadcasted on the television to send out emergency broadcasting. If the emergency broadcasting is terminated, the switch unit connects the previous broadcasting to send out the previous broadcasting.
