Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: A motion estimation method of a block unit in image compression is provided to increase the precision of motion compensation estimation by simply detecting rotation and zooming components in a video compression encoder which estimates the motion per block unit. CONSTITUTION: A motion estimation method of a block unit in image compression includes the steps of setting templates employing a range of ±1 in NxN pixels, and estimating and compensating rotation of original pixels by matching the set template with original NxN pixels, wherein the templates are respectively set for clock-wise rotation and counter clock-wise rotation for estimating the rotation of the original pixels. 본 발명은 영상압축 부호화에서 블럭단위의 이동추정 방법에 관한 것으로, 블럭단위로 이동을 추정하는 비디오 압축부호기에서 회전 및 주밍(zooming) 성분을 용이하게 검출하여, 이동보상 예측의 정확성을 향상시키도록 한 기술에 관한 것이다.
