Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE: A charging service recording method in an exchanger is provided to heighten a service quality and improve the stability of an exchanger by detecting an error in advance when a charging record service used in the existing magnetic tape device to a disk. CONSTITUTION: The first disk controller determines whether an error occurs in the first portable disk(302). The first disk controller determines whether the first portable disk unit having an error is in the course of recording a charging service(304). If the first portable disk unit is in the course of recording of the charging service, the first disk controller updates the state information data of the first portable disk unit to the first disk state manager(306). The first disk controller excludes the first portable disk unit having the error from a charging service recording apparatus(308). The second portable disk unit, the other part of the duplexing, which has been set in a standby mode successively performs the charging service recording(310). The first disk controller repeatedly transmits a command that the second portable disk unit should be closed to the second portable disk unit and determines whether an arc signal is received from the second portable disk unit(312). If no arc signal is received in a predetermined time lapse, it is determined to be a time out(314). If the first disk controller receives an arc signal, it determines whether it is the case that a signal informing that the charging service recording had been terminated has been received from the second portable disk unit(316).
