Zusammenfassung:	The silencer (2) is for the outlet of a compressor used in an air-conditioning system in a road vehicle. The silencer may be generally cylindrical with a funnel-shaped inlet end. A small-diameter inlet pipe blends into the small end of a frustoconical member (10) whose large end joins the end of the cylindrical portion (20) of the silencer. A coil spring (70) in the frustoconical member presses against a perforated (41a) flat plate (40a). The air passes through a first filter (50a) and then passes through a sound-absorbing material (60) consisting of a large number of small spheres. The air then passes through a second filter (50b), then through a second perforated (41b) plate (40b) and exits through a second conical member (30) with a conical spring and a second small-diameter pipe (31).
