Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To preclude glass cracking at a corner part of a liquid crystal display element by forming cut parts at the part of a support plate corresponding to the corner parts of the liquid crystal display element. CONSTITUTION:The support plate 1 has the cut parts 4 at the parts corresponding to the corner parts of the liquid crystal display element 2. The peripheral part of the liquid crystal display element 2 except the corner parts is therefore fixed on the support plate 1. Thus, the cut parts 4 are formed at the parts of the support plate 1 that the corner parts of the liquid crystal display element 2 contact, so when the mechanical strength of the liquid crystal display device is tested, stress applied to the support plate 1 is prevented from being conducted to the corner parts of the liquid crystal display element 2, so that no glass cracking is caused at the corner parts of the liquid crystal display element 2.
