Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To exactly predict the service life expectancy of a cylinder liner, and to reduce the operation cost by calculating at any time the abrasion quantity of the cylinder liner through the resistance value increase quantity of an electric resistor in a cylinder liner abration detecting sensor. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder liner abration detecting sensor 100 is constituted of two pieces of bar-like terminals 105 which are fitted into an electric insulator 102, and an electric resistor 106 which is pressed in between the tip parts of both the terminals 105, and is connected electrically to both the terminals 105, and installed in a cylinder liner 02. Also, a cylinder liner abrasion quantity measuring instrument is constituted of an amplifier 110, an A/D converter 111, a computer 112, a display device 113, a rotation angle sensor 114, etc. In such a state, as shown in a prescribed expression, a resistance R of the electric resistor 106 and its thickness H are in hyperbolic relation. Accordingly, the abrasion quantity DELTAH of the cylinder liner 02 can be derived by measuring a variation DELTAR of an electric resistance value and calculating it. As a result, a service life of the cylinder liner 02 can be predicted, and arrangements for articles and preparations for a repair can be executed before the next entry into port.
