LOCK DEVICE FOR STEERING

PURPOSE:To obtain a steering lock device with increased reliability and operability detecting the select position of a shift lever in a parking position and an ignition switch in an off position and exciting a solenoid that can oper ate a handle lock releasing button. CONSTITUTION:By providing a key insertion detecting switch 31, an ignition switch 32, and a parking switch 33, a contact 31a is closed at the time of inserting a key, contacts 32a, 32b are closed at the time of detecting an ACC position and an ON position, respectively, and a contact 33a is closed when the select position of a shift lever is in other than a parking position. When a vehicle is at a stop, as a shift lever is shifted to a parking position while rotating the key to an position, the contacts 33a, 32a, 32b are opened, exciting a solenoid 18 by the action of a defined circuit. The excited solenoid 18 enables the operation of a handle-lock releasing button, increasing the reliability and operability of a steering lock.
