CONTROLLER FOR POWER PLANT

PURPOSE:To keep off any backward movement of a vehicle at the time of starting it on a sloping road in an effective manner by controlling engine output with an output control device so as to prevent the reverse rotation when a rotational direction detecting device detects the reverse rotation against the running direction. CONSTITUTION:A rotation of direction of an output drive shaft, namely, a turbine shaft 25 from an engine 100 is detected by a rotational direction detecting device 110 from a signal of a turbine sensor 5 detecting a sensing rotor 21 with A-phase and B-phase sensor heads 23, 24. And, when the rotational direction detecting device 110 detects rotation in the reverse direction to that of the running direction, an output control device 120 controls engine output to go up so as to prevent the reverse rotation from occurring. Thus, any backward movement of a vehicle at the time of starting it on a sloping road or the like is effectively prevented from occurring and, what is more, creep torque at the time of a steady state can be set to be smaller.
