DISTANCE MEASURING APPARATUS

PURPOSE:To achieve a higher accuracy of measuring a distance to a measuring point with a measuring tape, by supporting the measuring tape unwound from a measuring tape housing section with a support member free to expand at a fixed tension. CONSTITUTION:A support member 2 expands or reduces supporting a measuring tape 3 with the movement thereof 3 to fix the measuring tape 3 at a measuring point unable to reach being imparted a fixed tension, which allows one person to implement highly accurate measurement of distance. Then, an arithmetic section 12 corrects the results of measurement obtained by the measuring tape 3 by a distance to the position of pulling the measuring tape 3 from reference measuring positions 8 and 9 and the distance thus corrected to a measuring point from the regular reference measuring positions 8 and 9 is shown on a display section 6.
