Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To improve corrosion resistance and to obtain a magnetic recording medium having improved reproducibility by using the recording medium formed of an Sm-Co-M alloy (where M is at least one kind among Cr, Mo and W). CONSTITUTION:The recording medium is formed of the Sm-Co-M alloy (where M is at least one kind among Cr, Mo and W). Cr, Mo and W are the metal elements having high corrosion resistance and contribute to an improvement in the corrosion resistance. Since these elements are used in single-layer structure, the film is formable with the good reproducibility. The content of Sm is preferably 5-20wt.% and the content of Co preferably 70-95wt.%.
