MANUFACTURE OF MAGNETIC HEAD

PURPOSE:To improve the size accuracy of gap depth, by forming a groove for deciding the gap depth at a position separated from a coil winding groove by a distance equal to or larger a little than the gap depth in parallel with the coil winding groove. CONSTITUTION:On a plane at a gap forming side at least on one side of magnetic core half body blocks 10 and 11, the coil winding groove 12 and a parallel gap depth deciding groove 16 are formed. At this time, the distance (d) between the coil winding groove 12 and the gap depth deciding groove 16 is set equal to or larger a little than the required gap depth of the magnetic core block. Since it is possible to recognize the gap depth on the middle way of grinding by observing the existence of the gap depth deciding groove on the sliding plane of the medium and measuring the width size of the groove without observing the side plane of the magnetic core block at the time of grinding the sliding plane of the recording medium of the magnetic core block, it is possible to set the gap depth of the magnetic head obtained at a final stage equal to a required value easily and with high accuracy.
