PRODUCTION OF MAGNETIC DISK

PURPOSE:To prevent the thermal decomposition of an org. material and the attraction of a magnetic head slider by providing island-shaped films by sputtering, vapor deposition or CVD on a hard film and providing a magnetic recording medium film thereon. CONSTITUTION:The hard film (2) consisting of an Ni-P plating is formed on the surface of an Al-Mg alloy base material (1) and the island-shaped films 3 are provided by sputtering, vapor deposition or chemical vapor deposition (CVD) on this hard film 2. The magnetic recording medium film 4 is provided thereon. The material of the island-shaped films are any one kind among inorg. oxides such as SiO2 and Al2O3, inorg. carbides such as SiC and TiC, metals such as Si, Ni and Cu and alloys such as Co-Ni. The thermal decomposition of the org. material is thereby prevented and the adhesion of the magnetic recording medium film 4 is improved. In addition, the materials which are used are wide in range and the attraction of the magnetic head slider is prevented.
