FOLDING TYPE ROOF FOR AUTOMOBILE

PURPOSE: To prevent generation of noise and damage caused by oscillation of a top material holding rail by utilizing the relative movement of a strut and an arm generated at the time of displacing a main bow member where a folding top is stretched to forcibly control the control mechanism of the folding top. CONSTITUTION: A main bow member 11 where a folding top is stretched is supported on a strut 12 which oscillate about a main shaft center 14. At this time, a top frame guide arm 15 is pivoted on the back side of the strut 12, and the arm 15 is pivoted on the lateral top frame 16. The upper end part of the main guide arm 17 is pivoted on the terminal end part of the frame 16, and a hinge joint 19 is arranged between a control cam 18 formed on the terminal end part of the arm 17 and the strut 12. The upper end part of the control guide arm 21 is supported on the arm 17 by the hinge joint 20. On the other hand, a top material holding rail 24 is pivoted between the frame 16 and the arm 17. The relative movement of the strut 12 and the arm 17 is utilized to control the control mechanism 31.
